The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is proud to announce that during the week of June 3, 2018, the School Resource Officer Unit will be presenting an active shooter preparedness workshop for school staff from around the county. All of the schools served by the School Resource Officer Unit have been invited and several have reserved spaces to attend. This workshop is being hosted by Desert View High School and will help prepare staff to respond to these types of events in an effort to better protect the students within Pima County. The workshop includes instruction time, tabletop exercises, several real-life scenarios, and a demonstration of law enforcement response to these types of situations. This workshop represents a collaborative effort between the Sheriff’s Department and Desert View High School’s drama students to provide a high quality, realistic situational preparedness exercise for administrators, teachers, and support staff within our schools. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department appreciates the understanding and patience of the community as this workshop will generate loud and alarming noises from Desert View High School’s campus.
