On Saturday, February 11, 2017, just before 2:00 p.m., Rincon District deputies responded to the Safeway located at 4752 East Sunrise Drive for a report of a robbery. When deputies arrived, they learned a female suspect had entered the store and attempted to get money from the cash register of the service counter. After speaking with witnesses and reviewing video surveillance, deputies were able to determine the female suspect had entered the store and proceeded directly to the service desk counter. After unsuccessfully attempting to purchase cigarettes, the suspect allowed another customer to go ahead of her. After the other customer handed cash to the service desk employee, the suspect pushed her aside and demanded money. The suspect made a statement to the employee that she would “blow her away” if she did not hand over the cash. The suspect became frustrated and ultimately walked away from the counter without receiving any money. The suspect then exited the store and ran out of the area. She is described as: • African American, with a white head scarf • Last seen wearing a blue top, floor-length white/black checkered dress, and white surgical mask over her face Robbery Assault detectives have taken over the investigation and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect from this case. Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1. You can also submit an anonymous tip, with the potential for a reward, by text, phone, or by going to 88-CRIME.org.
