On February 16, 2015, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Green Valley District deputies responded to the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 3477 S. Waterfall Drive, reference a theft. When deputies arrived, they learned fraudulent activity was discovered by bank staff while reviewing a 79-year-old customer’s account. The perpetrator of the fraud was identified as Francisco Gamez-Hernandez, a Wells Fargo Bank employee. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Fraud Unit responded and took over the investigation. During the course of their investigation they learned the suspect sought out the victim because of her age and vulnerability. Mr. Gamez-Hernandez was transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex and booked on the following charges: • Theft • Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card • Computer Tampering Wells Fargo Bank reimbursed the victim’s account.
