Motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of unintentional deaths for children ages 1 -19 years old. In 2014, over 50 children were killed in motor vehicle collisions due to misuse or nonuse of a child restraint system. Making sure that your car seat is properly installed is the first step in keeping kids safe. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is dedicated to educating the public on proper car seat installation and use so that these types of tragedies can be prevented. Join us, along with Safe Kids Pima County and the Tucson Police Department, on Saturday, March 18, 2017, for a FREE car seat check. The event will be located at the Tucson Medical Center’s Square and Compass Children’s Clinic, 2600 N. Wyatt Dr. from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Learn about proper car seat installation and usage from trained deputies, officers, and community partners. The funding for this event was made available through grants awarded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
