On January 28, 2015, at approximately 2:38 PM, deputies with the Rincon District responded to a report of a collision in the 10900 block of East Fort Lowell Road. Upon arrival, they found a motorcyclist was involved in the crash and seriously injured. He was airlifted from the scene to a local hospital. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. They determined the motorcyclist had been traveling westbound on Fort Lowell Road, reportedly at a high rate of speed. Going eastbound were two vehicles, a Pontiac sedan driven by a 22-year-old woman and a Toyota pickup truck driven by 40-year-old man. The driver of the Pontiac made a left turn in front of the motorcycle into a driveway. The motorcyclist collided with the sedan, glanced off the car and subsequently hit the following Toyota pickup truck. A helmet was located at the scene, however, witnesses reported they did not see the motorcyclist wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The motorcyclist was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. He has been identified as 32-year-old John Hyatt of Tucson. The investigation continues.
