Inmate Escapes Work Crew

On March 19, 2016, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Foothills District deputies responded to the Pima Animal Care Center reference an inmate walking away from a work crew. Inmate Sarah Herrera was working as part of an inmate work crew when she disappeared. Ms. Herrera was in custody, serving time for misdemeanor trespassing and shoplifting charges. She served four of her eighteen required days. She was last seen wearing a red Pima County Jail uniform possibly with a red sweatshirt. Following the escape, a white sports utility vehicle was seen parked in the area where jail clothing was found. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Investigative Strike Team have taken over the investigation. Ms. Herrera is a 22-year-old African-American female, 5’06” tall, and weighs approximately 100 pounds. Anyone with knowledge on the whereabouts of Ms. Herrera, is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
