Yesterday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., Corrections Officers doing their rounds within the Pima County Adult Detention Complex encountered an inmate who was unresponsive in his cell. Corrections Officers immediately entered the cell and began administering emergency life saving measures while they waited for Tucson Fire Department personnel to arrive. After attempting to resuscitate the inmate, fire department personnel pronounced him dead at the jail. Homicide detectives responded to the jail and determined the death was a suicide. The inmate has been identified as 43-year-old Norman Schrank III. Mr. Schrank was in jail for the murder of Sachiko McClurg, as well as the Kidnapping of his estranged wife Jeni McClurg, among other charges. This investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as it can be made available. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is still seeking any information regarding the whereabouts of Sachiko McClurg. Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1.
