On June 16th, at approximately 1:30 a.m., corrections officers doing their rounds within the Pima County Adult Detention Complex encountered an inmate who was unresponsive in his cell. Corrections Officers immediately entered the cell and began administering emergency life saving measures while they waited for Tucson Fire Department personnel to arrive. After attempting to resuscitate the inmate, medical personnel pronounced him dead at the jail. Homicide detectives responded to the jail and determined the death was a suicide. The inmate has been identified as 47-year-old Brian Ferry. Mr. Ferry was in jail for the murder of Charles Russell and Catherine Nelson which occurred in 2002.
