The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a series of intra-state/intra-nation runs that take place in spring and summer in the United States and around the world. Leading up to the Torch Run, participants collect contributions and funds from t-shirt sales and other fundraising efforts to raise support for Special Olympics athletes. The Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run is much more than just a run; it is a year-round campaign to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Arizona. Law enforcement officers carry the Torch representing the Flame of Hope, dedicated to helping Special Olympics Arizona throughout the state. This year’s event is Wednesday, May 2, 2018, and will start at 7:00 a.m. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department leg of the run is just over 4 miles, from Oracle Road and Auto Mall Drive to Oracle Road and Magee Road. The Sheriff’s Department consistently has one of the largest groups of participants in Arizona. All money raised for the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run goes directly to support Special Olympics athletes in Arizona and their programs.
