May 26, 2017 The last Monday in May is not just a free day off work to have a party. Memorial Day was set aside to honor the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is asking everyone to enjoy the long weekend responsibly. Here are a few things we would like you to remember: • Make a plan BEFORE going out and consuming alcohol. • Preplan your ride home. Get a ride from a sober driver or use a service like Uber, Lyft, or a taxicab. • If you are hosting a party remind guests to plan ahead and designate a sober driver or make plans to stay the night. • Hiking or other outdoor activities should be limited to early morning hours and be completed no later than 10 a.m. each day. • Hike with someone familiar with the trail. • Wear proper clothing and shoes. • Have a fully charged cell phone. • Let friends or family know where you’re going and when you expect to return. • Take plenty of water, approximately one liter per hour per person. • Know your limits. We are honored to work in a community that takes such pride in our military, and thankful for all the men and women who are serving, have served, or are going to serve. Have fun and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
