On Saturday, November 3, 2018, the Mount Lemmon Marathon will be taking place. The full marathon will start at Summerhaven at 6:30 a.m. and the half marathon will start at the Cypress Picnic Area at 6:30 a.m. There are 1,750 anticipated runners between the two races. Starting at 5:30 a.m. the Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers will be enforcing a soft closure of Catalina Hwy. At that point, all traffic up and down the mountain will require an escort by a deputy guided pilot vehicle. Visitors are welcome to go up the mountain and businesses will remain open in Summerhaven. Be prepared for a 30 minute traffic delay between 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. if you are heading up. The entire event should be cleared from the mountain by 1:00 p.m. The marathon will end at Tanque Verde High School. The following roads in the area will be closed: • Snyder Rd between Soldier’s Trail and Catalina Hwy • Melpomene Way between Snyder Rd and Limberlost Rd The Pima County Sheriff’s Department would like to personally thank you for helping keep Pima County roads safe to all who use them.
