The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is currently assisting fire crews from state, local, and federal agencies in their efforts to put out the Mulberry Fire. At this time “Hotshot” crews are on scene, and additional resources have been ordered. A Type III Incident Management Team will assume Incident Command beginning early Sunday morning. The role of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department is to maintain security in the area as well as to assist with evacuation orders given in coordination with fire crews and the Pima County Office of Emergency Management (PCOEM). Evacuations will remain in effect throughout the night for residents on the Empire/Charron Vineyard road access east of State Route 83. There are currently no evacuations for J-Six residents or residents of Hilton Ranch Road. These areas are being monitored by PCOEM in the event they become threatened by the fire. Please visit myalerts.pima.gov and sign up to receive up to date alerts on evacuations. A shelter has been established at the Pima County Fairgrounds for anyone affected by the fire. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
