Chief Deputy Chris Nanos advises on Saturday, May 24, 2014, multiple law enforcement agencies will come together to conduct a DUI Sobriety Checkpoint. The agencies involved are, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Oro Valley Police Department, Department of Public Safety, and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department. Their mission is to take impaired drivers off the roadway and make our communities safe. If you plan on going out and consuming alcohol, here are a few safety tips: • Prior to drinking, designate a non-drinking driver when with a group. • Don’t let your friends drive impaired. Take away their keys. • If you have been drinking, get a ride home from a sober driver or call a taxi. • If you are hosting a party, remind guests to plan ahead and designate a sober driver, or make plans to stay the night. Operational funding and equipment were made available through grants awarded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
