The Pima County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in the National Child Passenger Safety Week from September 17-23, 2017. Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old. The proper use of car seats, boosters, and seat belts is paramount in preventing serious injury or death. The key to keeping children safe in the car is to make sure the child is in the right seat for their age and size. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department will be joining the Tucson Police Department and Safe Kids Pima County on Saturday, September 23, 2017, for a FREE car seat check. The event will be held at O’Reilly Chevrolet, located at 6160 East Broadway Boulevard, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please come learn about proper car seat installation and usage from trained deputies, officers, and community partners. Additionally, law enforcement focus will be increased during the National Child Passenger Safety Week to ensure children are properly secured inside vehicles. Please make sure your children are in properly installed child safety seats to keep them safe on every trip……every time. Operational funding for the National Child Passenger Safety Week was made available through grants awarded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
