On February 17, 2013, at approximately 2:38 a.m., deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Foothills District responded to the Outlaw Saloon located at 1302 West Roger Road for a large fight in the parking lot of the business. Upon arrival, only the victims were still present. Deputies spoke to a 45-year-old female who advised she, her 21-year-old son and an acquaintance (40 years of age) of hers had been assaulted by a group of adults. Her son had already been transported to a hospital for his injuries. Further investigation revealed the following sequence of events. The female victim was outside the bar, on the walkway leading to the parking lot, together with her son and her male acquaintance. They stopped there to smoke. A group of adults came out of the bar and approached them making antagonistic remarks directed at her son. The taunting continued and suddenly the behavior escalated into a physical assault. The 21-year-old was beaten and suffered injuries that required medical attention at the hospital later. The mother attempted to stop the beating of her son when the attackers turned on her, knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the face. The 40-year-old male victim was also beaten and kicked. The victims did not know any of their attackers, who were both male and female. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Robbery/Assault Unit were able to obtain surveillance footage and are asking the public for assistance in identifying the attackers. Video footage and pictures of the vicious attack and the suspects have been attached to this media release. Anyone with information on the suspects or the case is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
