On Wednesday, February 28, 2018, just after 8:00p.m., Pima County Corrections Officer Martin Lopez, age 27, was arrested for Transportation of Narcotics and Promoting Prison Contraband. Officer Lopez has been a corrections officer for approximately eleven months. This arrest was the result of a week long investigation, which was initiated by a tip to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Office of Professional Standards. The information was immediately turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation. Detectives, along with the canine unit, air unit, and specialized patrol units actively participated in the investigation and arrest of Officer Lopez. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department takes an aggressive, zero tolerance stance towards any allegations of criminal activity or misconduct by department members.
