The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is pleased to announce that last year Pima County experienced a significant reduction in crime and serious traffic accidents. Outlined below are the reductions we experienced from 2017 to 2018. We attribute this reduction to the excellent work of our deputies and investigative staff. Through our Directed Patrol Program and Border Interdiction Units, we proactively attack crime problems. Our detectives do stellar investigations, which ensure that when a crime does occur the perpetrators are brought to justice so their ability to engage in further victimization is stopped. Our district deputies are encouraged to maintain high visibility, promptly respond to calls for service and conduct traffic enforcement. Traffic enforcement and law enforcement related public contacts provide for greater visibility in the community deterring criminality and reducing traffic accidents. While committed to traditional law enforcement, we embrace progressive concepts and community engagement as they can help to reduce crime in Pima County. We are proud to help make Pima County a safer place.
