At their board meeting on July 5, 2016, the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved the donation of a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria to the Pima County Joint Technical Education District (JTED) Criminal Justice Program. As the flagship patrol vehicle of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department over the past 20 years, the Ford Crown Victoria is one of the most recognizable and reliable law enforcement vehicles ever commissioned. Sheriff Chris Nanos saw an opportunity to help in the training of future deputies and had the donation added to the July 5th board meeting agenda. The donated Crown Victoria has seen action in the Green Valley, Tucson Mountain, and San Xavier Districts. JTED’s Criminal Justice program teaches their students the history, role, and philosophy of law enforcement. It provides a hands-on training experience where students utilize tools, like patrol cars, in realistic law enforcement scenarios. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is proud to partner with JTED by putting our community’s future leaders in the driver’s seat of their careers.
