Starting in the beginning of August there have been eight robberies, spanning three law enforcement jurisdictions, believed to involve the same suspect. In each of the robberies a heavyset man, wearing a camouflage mask, armed with a black handgun, demanded money. The suspect was provided an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing in a silver older model Hyundai Sonata. Detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Marana Police Department, and the Tucson Police Department began working together to locate the suspect. Today, at approximately 8:30 a.m. there was another robbery at the Subway located at 5095 North La Canada Drive. All the information surrounding the newest robbery was provided to the nearby agencies. Marana Police Department located the suspect vehicle at the InTown Suites located at 4314 West Ina Road. They investigated further and made contact with 32-year-old Christopher Hunt-Taylor, who matched the description provided in all eight robberies. A search warrant was obtained and items of evidence linking Mr. Hunt-Taylor to the robberies were located. Mr. Hunt-Taylor was arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex for four counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery in connection with the robberies in Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s jurisdiction. Additional charges are pending reference the robberies in Marana Police Department and Tucson Police Department’s jurisdiction. We would like to commend the men and women working this case for their dedication and commitment to a safer community for all of us.
