Serial Shoplifters Arrested on Bicycles

On December 18, 2013 at approximately 9:50 p.m., Foothills District deputies responded to the Wal-Mart located at 7635 N. La Cholla Boulevard reference a theft in progress. While en route, deputies were advised the suspects left the store on bicycles. Prior to reaching the Wal-Mart, deputies observed two individuals matching the suspects’ description on Ina Road near Mona Lisa Road. The deputies made contact with the suspects identified as 27-year-old Christina Ring and 36-year-old Ricky Boykin. Mr. Boykin admitted to stealing numerous items, which he had in his possession, from the Wal-Mart and planned to sell them. Further investigation revealed Mr. Boykin and Ms. Ring had an elaborate shoplifting scheme that profited an estimated $40,000. Mr. Boykin and Ms. Ring were arrested and transported to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Adult Detention Center and booked on the following charges: • Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices • Trafficking in Stolen Property • Organized Retail Crime
