Pima County Sheriff Mark D. Napier has completed his first 60 days in office. Since the initial 30 day report, the Sheriff has found an additional $562,532 in savings. That brings the total reduction in the budget deficit to over 52%. In addition, Sheriff Napier has continued to bolster the department’s involvement in the community. He has met with the leadership of the department’s employee associations, hosted a lunch for the Chiefs of Police in Pima County, and attended several briefings with crime prevention groups and community leaders. Sheriff Napier has also been featured on several local and national news programs including two joint media interviews with TPD Chief Magnus featured on KGUN and AZ Public Media. Moving forward, together, as a department and proactively confronting challenges and difficult changes is Sheriff Napier’s goal. We will be communicating our progress again at the 90-day mark of his administration.
