Today, at approximately 5:00 p.m., San Xavier District deputies responded to the 7200 block of South Cardinal Avenue for a man reporting that he just shot someone. When deputies arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound and immediately began to render aid, utilizing an individual first aid kit. The man was transported to Banner University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Deputies detained the shooter and a person of interest. The Homicide Unit responded and took over the investigation. Detectives learned the shooter was a caretaker for the property where the incident occurred. They also learned the decedent was armed with a revolver and associated with the person of interest. At this time, no one is being charged in connection with this incident. This case is still under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 9-1-1.
