Suspects Use Stun Gun During Armed Robbery

On September 21, 2013, at 6:35 p.m., Foothills District deputies responded to the Safeway located at 7110 North Oracle Road, reference an armed robbery. When deputies arrived, they learned that two suspects, a male and female, entered the store at 6:00 p.m. A Safeway loss prevention officer observed the female suspect place two bottles of liquor into her purse, as her companion stood by. When the suspects walked out of the store, the loss prevention officer stepped in front of them and identified himself. The female reached into her purse and pulled out an electronic stun gun device. She pressed the device against the chest of the loss prevention officer and activated it, causing him to fall down. This incapacitated the store employee and both suspects left the area in a white vehicle. The female suspect is described as: • Light skinned African American • Wearing a green shirt, jean shorts, and black tennis shoes The male suspect is described as: • Hispanic • Wearing a black t-shirt, jeans, and a black hat The Sheriff’s Department Robbery/Assault Unit is currently trying to identify the suspects involved in this armed robbery. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call 88-CRIME or 9-1-1.
