The Sheriff’s Department Community Problems Unit has recently been made aware of two separate incidences where a person, posing as a magazine salesperson, stole from homeowners. During these incidences, a person claiming to sell magazines, made contact with homeowners and asked to enter the home claiming to be cold and needing to use a restroom. The homeowners allowed the scammer into their home. The suspect used the restroom and in one occasion asked for a glass of water. After the suspect left, the homeowners noticed that their wallets and a checkbook were missing. There is no particular person of interest or description of the suspect at this time. However, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department wants to remind the public that it is never a good idea to invite strangers into their home. If you see any suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call 9-1-1 immediately.
