Chief Deputy Chris Nanos advises on October 23, 2014, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Foothills District deputies responded to an unknown problem in the 1400 block of North Indigo Drive. When deputies arrived, they learned two men and a woman, dressed as police officers, gained entry into the victim’s residence. Once inside, the suspects demanded cash and drugs from the people inside the residence. A physical altercation ensued between the two male suspects and two of the men inside the residence. The two residents were able to detain one of the suspects, identified as 29-year-old Alberto Herrera, while the other two left in a dark brown SUV type vehicle. The two victims involved in the physical altercation and the suspect, Alberto Herrera, were transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the incident. The Sheriff’s Department Night Detective Squad responded and took over the investigation. Alberto Herrera was later transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex and booked on the following charges: • Two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Dangerous Instrument • Burglary First Degree • Impersonating a Peace Officer Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
