The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has an ongoing partnership with the United States Air Force (USAF). The USAF sends selected service members to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy to obtain an Arizona Peace Officers Certification. In turn, those service members become Reserve Deputies and are required to maintain their certification by attending training throughout the year. When the service members are discharged from the military, they are able to apply for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Because of the ongoing training they received, the service members are eligible to go directly to the field training program upon successful completion of the application process. Deputy Robert Valentine is the latest of several airmen to be offered the position of Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Robert Valentine enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 10, 2013. He served his country for three years and will now be serving his community as a Deputy. Sheriff Chris Nanos is proud to welcome Deputy Robert Valentine into a rewarding law enforcement career by presenting him with his badge. The ceremony will be held today, at 11:00 a.m. in Sheriff Chris Nanos’ office and is open to members of the media. If you are interested in attending please call the PIO hotline at 520-237-3740, to RSVP.
