This evening, just before 6:00 p.m., 66-year-old Ronald Hutter was found by a motorist travelling on General Hitchcock Highway, near Palisades, and was transported to the residence of one of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Mt. Lemmon deputies. Emergency medical personnel were called and Mr. Hutter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Search and Rescue personnel have spoken with Mr. Hutter and were able to determine that he intended to go on a short hike on the Upper Green Mountain Trail, but became lost in the process. He survived for three days and made fires at night. Original Release: Missing Hiker near Upper Green Mountain Trail November 16, 2016 On Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a report of an overdue party on Mount Lemmon. Deputies learned 66-year-old Ronald Hutter was supposed to meet a friend on Mount Lemmon on Monday, November 14th, but never showed up. He was last seen by friends on Monday, in Tucson. Search and Rescue deputies responded and located the vehicle of Mr. Hutter at milepost 17 of General Hitchcock Highway, near the Upper Green Mountain Trail; camping gear was located inside the vehicle. Mr. Hutter is described as: • Caucasian male • 5’9” in height • 160 pounds • Black/grey hair, brown eyes • Usually wears a hat and vest when hiking Search and Rescue personnel are actively searching for Mr. Hutter. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1.
