The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has identified the suspect from last night’s deadly shooting at La Encantada Mall as 60-year-old Frederick Bair. Mr. Bair was the lone shooter in last night’s incident which left two men dead, including Mr. Bair himself. Mr. Bair’s ex-wife is being identified as the female injured as a result of the shooting. This investigation is ongoing. Original Release: Deadly Shooting at Foothills Restaurant April 14, 2017 This evening, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Foothills District deputies responded to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, located inside the La Encantada Mall, at 2905 East Skyline Drive for a report of shots fired. When deputies arrived, they learned two adult males were deceased from apparent gunshot wounds, and one adult female was injured, also from an apparent gunshot wound. After speaking with witnesses, deputies determined the incident was isolated to the restaurant and no other bystanders were injured as a result of the shooting. At this point in the investigation it appears that one handgun was used, and the two males and one female involved knew each other. It has been determined this was not a random incident and involved no other parts of the mall or surrounding establishments. This investigation is ongoing.
