The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has opened an application process for 911 Dispatchers. Individuals who are a team player, highly motivated, have the ability to multi-task and who enjoy a fast-paced work environment are highly encouraged to apply. The position of 911 Dispatcher is critical to the day-to-day operations of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. It offers the opportunity to work in the law enforcement environment and provide mission critical support to deputies in the field. The application process remains open until March 8, 2013. The Sheriff’s Department is looking to fill multiple vacancies. The chosen trainees will attend a newly designed and completely revamped training academy designed to prepare them for their assignments in the county’s brand new Pima Emergency Communications and Operations Center (PECOC). This hiring process is for our July and September academies. The Dispatch Academy consists of eight weeks of mixed format lecture, scenario, hands-on and technology based training followed by 16 weeks of phased on-the-job-training in the Department’s Communications Center.
